Broadcasts
Broadcasts let you send targeted messages, either emails or SMS , to groups of recipients such as campers, parents, or staff. They’re ideal for sharing updates, reminders, or announcements with specific segments of your audience.

Managing email senders
Before sending your first email broadcast, you’ll need to verify at least one sender email address:
Go to Sender addresses.
Click Add sender and enter the email address.
Verify it via the email delivered to your mail inbox to start sending messages from that address. If you have a pending sender entry, you can resend the verification email at any time from the Sender addresses table.
Creating a broadcast
Click Send broadcast.
Choose whether you’re sending an Email or SMS.
Select your sender - this is the verified email address or name that recipients will see.
Subject – the subject line that appears in the recipient’s inbox.
Preview text – short text shown in email clients below the subject line.
Choosing your audience
Choose your audience for this campaign. First select your recipient type:
Families - sent to parents and guardians
Staff - send to staff members. Optionally include emergency contacts.
Note: When sending a broadcast to families, emails are sent by default only to primary contacts. Optionally chose to send the broadcast to all parents and/or emergency contacts.
Then select a season and choose your audience:
All → send to all recipients of the selected type.
View → send to an existing saved view.
Custom → build a custom recipient set using filters. Filter by Stage, Role, or Department using “is” or “is not” conditions. Combine multiple filters and filter groups to reach precisely the right people.
Composing an email
Create your email content.
Choose an email type first:
Styled → visually designed emails with headlines, images, and branded formatting.
Simple → clean, text-focused messages.
You can also start from a saved template or begin from blank. Then fill in your content:
Header image – upload an image to appear at the top of your email (recommended 1200 x 400px).
Headline – large text displayed at the top of the email.
Content – the body of your message, with rich text formatting available.
Button – optionally add a call-to-action button with custom text and a link.
Use the Preview button to check how your email will look, or Send test to send a test message before going live.
Send
Review your campaign details — broadcast name, sender, subject, and recipient count — then choose when to send:
Send now → immediately send to all recipients.
Schedule send → choose a specific date and time.
Composing an SMS
Type your content using the built-in editor.
SMS will be sent by one of Campfront's phone numbers. It may be helpful to include your camp name at the start of your content to identify you as the sender.
Opt-out tracking
Campfront tracks opt-outs and delivery issues for both email and SMS broadcasts, giving you visibility into who can and can’t be reached.
For email, the system reflects when an address is undeliverable, bouncing, or has been marked as spam. For SMS, opt-outs are tracked when a recipient chooses to stop receiving messages. In both cases, the status is surfaced against the contact’s profile so you can maintain a healthy contact list.
Tracking broadcasts
Your Broadcasts dashboard shows every message you’ve sent or drafted, with filters for Email, SMS, or All.
You can view:
Type of message

Recipients

Status (draft or sent)
Use Search, Filter, or Export to manage your communications efficiently
Templates
Communication templates allow you to create and manage reusable email and SMS content for your camp. Templates can be saved in a Draft state while you are still working on them, or moved to Published when they are ready to be used.
Published templates can be applied to both broadcast messages and individual sends, helping ensure consistency across all communications. All templates are stored in the Templates area, where you can create new templates, edit existing ones, and view their status and update history.
