When ordering a background check on a staff member through Campfront, you can choose from the following screen types offered by our provider Yardstik. There are a range of choices to cover whether the person is a new hire or a returning staff member, and the level of access and responsibility their role involves.
Premium Criminal The most comprehensive criminal screen available. Searches national databases and county-level court records across every county of residence going back 7 years, covering both misdemeanors and felonies. Recommended for any new staff member in a direct camper-facing role.
Premium Criminal + MVR Everything included in the Premium Criminal check, plus a full Motor Vehicle Record search. The best option for new staff who will drive campers or operate camp vehicles.
Basic Criminal A broad national database sweep that provides fast, cost-effective criminal screening. It does not include individual county court searches, making it less granular than the Premium option. It works well as a rescreening option for returning staff members who have already passed a full check in a previous season, where you want to confirm nothing has changed without running the full Premium screen again. For new staff in camper-facing roles, Premium Criminal is recommended.
Basic Criminal + MVR The Basic Criminal screen combined with a Motor Vehicle Record check. A practical rescreening option for returning driving staff, or a lighter-touch first screen for lower-risk driving roles.
Federal Criminal Searches federal district court records for crimes prosecuted under federal law, such as fraud, embezzlement, identity theft, and interstate trafficking. These records exist separately from county and state systems and will not appear in a standard criminal check.
MVR Pulls a candidate's driving history directly from their state DMV, covering licence validity, violations, suspensions, DUIs, and accident history. Required for any staff member who will transport campers. Can also be run on its own as a quick first-pass filter before committing to a fuller criminal screen.
Social Media Screen A structured, legally compliant review of a candidate's publicly available social media activity. Flags content that may be inappropriate in a camp environment, such as violent, hateful, or discriminatory material, without exposing protected personal characteristics to your hiring decision.
