Your media library
Your media library is where every photo from your camp lives. You upload photos, sort them into folders, and share them with families and staff. This article covers uploading, organizing, and managing your photos. To learn how families and staff get access, read "Sharing photos with families and staff". For automatic tagging and finding the people in your photos, read "Facial recognition and AI photo tagging".
How photos are organized
Your library is organized by season. Inside each season you'll find two kinds of folders.
Session folders - Campfront creates one for every session automatically. You can't rename or delete these, and they're the natural home for that session's photos
Your own folders - add folders and subfolders to group photos however you like, by day, activity, or event
Folders can nest up to three levels deep. Open All media at the top of the panel to browse across every season at once.
Finding your way around
When you open the media library, the main menu collapses to icons and a panel opens with your folder tree. Every folder shows a running photo count. Use the three-dot menu on any folder to rename it, add a subfolder, open its settings, or delete it.
Team members with view-only access see the library and photos, but not the menus for changing folders.
Uploading photos
Select Upload photos, then choose Files to pick individual photos or Folder to upload a whole folder from your computer. You can also drag photos straight onto an empty folder.
Choose the folder they should go into.
Decide whether to notify families and staff, then start the upload.
Uploads run in a small toolbar in the corner of the screen, so you can keep working while they finish. Closing the toolbar dismisses it but doesn't stop uploads that are already running.
You can upload JPG, PNG, and HEIC photos up to 30MB each. Photos from an iPhone often arrive as HEIC, and Campfront converts them for you.
The media library holds photos, not video. If a folder is locked, it won't accept new photos until you unlock it.
Managing photos
Open any photo to rename it, give it a friendly display name, or edit its tags and the people in it. To work with several photos at once, select them (hold Shift to pick a range), then move, download, or delete them together.
When you download, choose a size.
Original - full resolution
Print - sized for printing
Social media - sized for sharing online
Compact - a smaller file
Searching your library
Search by filename, tag, or a person's name. Campfront also understands what's in a photo, so a search like "sunset at the lake" finds matching pictures even when nobody typed those words. Automatic tagging makes this search sharper. Read "Facial recognition and AI photo tagging" to turn it on.
Storage plans
Every camp starts with 50 GB of free storage. When you need more room, open Settings then Manage plan to move up to a larger plan.
There are four paid tiers, all billed annually:
250 GB - $99 a year
500 GB - $199 a year
1 TB - $349 a year
2 TB - $599 a year
A few things worth knowing.
Paid plans need your camp billing set up first
You can't downgrade to a plan smaller than the space you're using, so free up room first
Canceling a paid plan keeps it active until the end of your billing period, and you can resume anytime before then
When you reach your limit, uploads are prevented until you upgrade or delete photos
Nothing is deleted when you hit the limit. Your library stays where it is and families keep their access. It's only new uploads that stop, so it's worth checking your usage before a busy week rather than during one.
